This month, I’ve been having a lot of conversations with patients about building habits that actually stick. A common theme I see—especially among high-performing women—is setting the bar too high. Many feel they “should” be doing several things already, so they try to adopt 3-4 new habits all at once.

The problem? If you don’t follow through, it can leave you feeling like you’ve failed, stacking more evidence of why you can’t achieve your goals, rather than creating proof that you can.

There’s a better way: focus on just one thing—something you feel 80% confident you can follow through on—and then stick to it. Once this action becomes second nature (and it might only take 1-2 weeks!), you can layer in a new habit.

For example:

Struggling to drink enough water? Start with a goal of one extra glass each morning.

Want to exercise more? Commit to one extra day per week.

Trying to eat more protein? Focus on increasing protein with one meal at a time.

The key is consistency over perfection. Small wins build momentum, and over time, they’ll snowball into bigger, lasting changes.

What’s your one thing to focus on this week? Let me know—I’d love to hear about it!
