Every January, we’re encouraged to set resolutions that are often rooted in restriction, pressure, or the idea that we need to “fix” ourselves. These messages are usually driven by societal expectations, not by our own values or our body’s needs.

Lasting change does not come from trying harder. It comes from aligning your goals with your values.

Instead of asking, “What should I change?” t ry asking, “How do I want to feel in my body and my life this year?”

For example, a resolution might sound like:

“I need to lose 20 pounds.”

A values-based goal sounds different:

“I want to feel strong, energized, and confident in my body.”

When goals are connected to values like energy, confidence, strength, presence, or longevity, they become easier to return to, even when motivation dips.

This year, consider choosing goals that support the life you want to live, rather than rules you feel you have to follow.
